Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi recently suffered an injury that ruled him out of action for up to 3 weeks. Even though the injury blow is softened by the fact that the midweek internationals will take up 15 days of that period, Barcelona will undoubtedly miss him according to midfielder Sergio Busquets.

Even though they are one of the best clubs in the world, the presence of Messi makes a huge difference to their play. Messi has been the best player in the world for the last four years, which has been acknowledged by the four FIFA Ballon d’Or awards he has won in succession. Read more

The manager of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed his disappointment over his side’s defeat in the recently played match against the local rivals Atletico Madrid.

This was the first occasion in the last 24 years that Atletico secured a win over Real in La Liga.

However, despite that defeat, Real Madrid is still at no. 3 in the La Liga points table. They currently have 16 points which is 5 less than what the table topper Barcelona has got.

Talking to the reporters at the end of the match against Atletico, Ancelotti said, “Our intensity was not quite up there. We were very slow at the start and you can’t do that against a side which has got a great defense. We conceded an early goal and that made things difficult for us. We lost self-belief after that.”

“It’s not that we were slow in this game only. We were the same in the previous game too and that’s something which is not good at all. We need to do something about it.”

“We will have to go out there with an improved approach. We need to focus harder. We just can’t be this slow against top teams.”

Ancelotti is facing a bit of criticism after Real Madrid’s defeat in the Madrid derby, but, his team’s most popular player Cristiano Ronaldo has backed him. According to Ronaldo, it’s the team which is responsible for the defeat and the manager shouldn’t be blamed.

Ronaldo said, “It isn’t manager’s fault. It’s the players who go out there and perform. So, they should be blamed, not the manager.”

Real Madrid’s next match is a Champions League encounter against the Danish club FC Copenhagen. That’s a home game for Los Blancos and will be played on Wednesday.
