MESSI RULED OUT

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi recently suffered an injury that ruled him out of action for up to 3 weeks. Even though the injury blow is softened by the fact that the midweek internationals will take up 15 days of that period, Barcelona will undoubtedly miss him according to midfielder Sergio Busquets.

Even though they are one of the best clubs in the world, the presence of Messi makes a huge difference to their play. Messi has been the best player in the world for the last four years, which has been acknowledged by the four FIFA Ballon d’Or awards he has won in succession.

It is highly likely that he will lose that crown this season after failing to win the Champions league last season. After the arrival of his compatriot Gerardo Martino, it was expected that Messi would be even better and it has been the case. He has started the season in spectacular fashion.

Even though Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is top of the goal scoring charts, Messi is not far behind with eight goals in just seven matches. You can get the best football odds on him topping the goalscoring charts by the end of the season at Will Hill. He recently scored in the 2-0 win over Almeria before being substituted after 30 minutes.

“Messi is as important to us as he was before. He is the best in the world and he does amazing things. We miss him a lot,” said the Spanish midfielder.

Messi will also miss the Champions league match against Celtic, which will be tough for the Spanish club given that they lost against the Scottish giants in a group match only recently. That will definitely be on the minds of the players according to Busquets. Busquets is expected to sign a new contract with the club that will see him extend his stay to 2018. He came through the ranks at Barcelona and is one of the important players at the club.
