Zidane believes that Real Madrid are not the Champions League favorite

Cristiano Ronaldo, KarimBenzema, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos and Isco are just a few of the more renowned and highly rated players that play a huge role in the squad of ZinedineZidane.

It’s because of all these world-class performers that Real Madrid is considered to be as one of the best football clubs right now, maybe even the best team that is performing and they have proved it by reaching the UEFA Champions League finals where ZinedineZidane and his squad have to face off with Juventus on June 3.

Even though Real Madrid has so many top footballers, Zidane stated that at least from his own point of view, the Spanish club are actually not the favorites of winning the UEFA Champions League as Juventus has their own merits which has helped in them reaching the finals as they overcame Barcelona in the quarter-finals and As.Monaco in the semifinals as well as many other top clubs along the way. BARCA MANAGE WIN

The poor run of form for Barcelona came to an end after they managed a 2-1 defeat of Athletic Bilbao in the league to stay in touch with leaders Atletico Madrid at the top of the table.

Barcelona’s form has been criticised throughout the season, while their style of play has come under increasing pressure from the home supporters. Barcelona have deviated quite a lot from the Guardiola days when they used to play with the ball at the feet of the players. Now, the team is looking for a long pass at every opportunity. Read more

BARCA TOP TABLE

Barcelona is once again topping the Spanish League, La Liga ahead of everyone else with 37 points claimed and 12 victories out of 13 so far. The Champions League is the same story as they remain undefeated in both tournaments although things might just begin to take a turn for the worst.

The star player of Barcelona Lionel Messi is already confirmed to be injured and not able to play for the remainder of the season in a month that the Argentine will want to forget as he has been facing a dry run of goals and a significant drop in performances during these past few months.

His drop of form has been so noticeable that C.Ronaldo is the favorite on claiming the FIFA Ballon d’Or on January who is enjoying a stellar season with Real Madrid.

Xavi Hernandez is another player that recently picked up an injury and his recovery is still uncertain.

Barcelona’s official website stated:

The club’s medical services have revealed that Xavi Hernandes has a thigh strain in his left leg and over the last few training sessions has been given specific work to help his recovery, which will determine his availability for Saturday’s game against Granada.

This means that the Catalan club might miss out from their 2 most creative and key players for Tata Martino in what is a busy stage of this season, although they should still be able to cope without having Messi or Xavi available as they have a vast amount of players ready to fill in the spots.

Manchester United have shown interest in signing Andres Iniesta but that might just be a little too far-fetched for the English club as the Spanish midfielder is close on extending his current contract with Barcelona.

“We are close to agreeing a new contract with Iniesta,” sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta told Radio Catalunya.

“I think it could happen before Christmas.”

MESSI RULED OUT

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi recently suffered an injury that ruled him out of action for up to 3 weeks. Even though the injury blow is softened by the fact that the midweek internationals will take up 15 days of that period, Barcelona will undoubtedly miss him according to midfielder Sergio Busquets.

Even though they are one of the best clubs in the world, the presence of Messi makes a huge difference to their play. Messi has been the best player in the world for the last four years, which has been acknowledged by the four FIFA Ballon d’Or awards he has won in succession. Read more
