Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is set to make his return to action in the game against Espanyol in the La Liga on Saturday.
The Welshman has been on the sidelines after he picked up ankle tendon damage in the champions League game against Sporting Lisbon last November.
The club manager Zinedine Zidane said he hoped the player would return before their clash with Napoli in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Real won the game but would now have him available for the return leg on March 7.
The 27-year old former Tottenham Hotspur player has returned to full training and he is now preparing for the clash with Espanyol.
“He will be in the squad and the plan is for him to have some minutes. We’re keen and he’s keen as well. Bale is a very important player for us. We know the quality and speed that he has, and the damage he can cause the opposition. He’s very happy to return to the team, to be with us, and be able to play again,” Zidane said ahead of the clash. Read more
Fifth-placed English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are not strangers to having their priced jewels scooped away from their cradle.
Luka Modric and Gareth comes to mind – and from the looks of it, perennial hunters Real Madrid, a club that hardly takes “no” for an answer, doesn’t seem to be done with carting away spurs’ best players as they are reported to have been monitoring the progress of White Hart Lane’s newest golden boy Dele Alli.
With his development chart indicating of a player that have progressively grown in leaps and bounds since last season’s debut, the European sharks, the oliver-wants-some-more of club football are said to have started laying ground works to lure the young Spur out of North London, the first point of call being a massive jack-up of his current £60,000 per-week deal.
Ligue 1 defending champions PSG are also said to be interested in securing the services of the Nigeria born England international. Tottenham however are said to have strong faith in Alli’s staying put no matter how fat the bone dangled about him is. Still, there remain silent fears of the 20-year-old being tempted by the double package of playing amongst la crème dela crème of European football while doing it on a bumper pay check. Read more
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti claims he denied the chance to join the Spanish side, Real Madrid and he is happy to stay with the France Ligue 1 champions at the moment.
The 23-year old was linked with a move away from Parc des Princes in recent months after a report bust-up with head coach Unai Emery, following his angry reaction to being substituted in their 0-0 draw with Marseille.
Verratti’s agent, Donati Di Campli, brought up a suggestion that media scrutiny on his client may lead him to making the decision of leaving France in favor of a possible return to Serie A, with Juventus and AC Milan rumored to have interest in having him.
Nevertheless, the Italian international insisted he’s happy with life at Paris Saint-German and has already turned down the opportunity to hold talks with Real Madrid.
“It is more than a refusal – I refused to negotiate with other clubs because I am happy in my team,” he revealed, as quoted by Le 10 Sport. “I was pleased by the interest though, but I could not but decided to stay to win here again as we do. Juventus are on another level in Italy, and they will win the title, like Bayern Munich in their championship, Manchester City, Real Madrid and us.” Read more
ZinedineZidane clinched the Champions League title in his debut season as the manager of Real Madrid and this is a hugely impressive accomplishment as there are top coaches that have never been able to do it in their entire managerial career but the Frenchman was able to do it as soon as he took charge of Real Madrid.

Former Real Madrid star Raul reckons that the club will bounce back from their recent run of poor form. Raul held the record for the most number of goals scored for the Spanish club in the Champions League.
Even though this record has been broken by Cristiano Ronaldo in recent months, Raul still remains a legend at the club. The former Spain international recently retired from playing football and he has voiced his opinions about the poor form suffered by Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the last couple of months. After a fantastic end to 2014, the club has been struggling to produce a consistent set of results in 2015.
This has allowed Barcelona to regain the lead in the la Liga, while there have also been some embarrassing scores like the 4-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid and the 4-3 loss against Schalke. Ancelotti’s tactics have been criticised heavily during this period, while the lack of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo is also concerning the club. Raul says that it is only a phase for the team and he expects it to be dealt with in great manner by Ancelotti, who is expected to get Luka Modric back into the team against Levante. The form of Gareth Bale has also been poor during this period. Read more
